ALEXANDRIA, Louisiana (LBM) – Helping Hands Thrift Store in Pineville has donated a portion of the proceeds from the sale of its facilities to the CENLA Pregnancy Center in Alexandria.

Representatives from both organizations gathered at the Pregnancy Center office in Alexandria on March 11 to celebrate the unspecified gift that will help advance the pro-life cause.

Although both sides preferred humility to the announcement of the actual amount, both recognized that it was a significant contribution. In this regard, the director of the CENLA pregnancy center, Claire Lemoine, said the generous donation will help expand services in areas such as: framing of pregnancy decisions by trained advocates; pregnancy test; ultrasound imaging; advice on pregnancy options; distribution of maternity and physical resources; and, providing post-decision support (parenting education and group classes on abortion recovery).

“We are incredibly grateful to Mr. Ray Powell and the Helping Hands Board of Directors for a timely gift given to us, Lemoine told the Baptist Message. “God has provided for our needs and continues to provide for the future needs of the center. “

Ray Powell, director of Helping Hands – who attends both First Baptist Church in Pollock and Word of Grace non-denominational ministries in Pineville – said his organization sold the thrift store to Ruston-based Rolling Hills Ministries so that they can reorganize their ministry. efforts.

Afterwards, he said, the leaders of Helping Hands decided to use the proceeds to bless a ministry whose mission is to save lives.

“My board is really passionate about what the CENLA Pregnancy Center does,” said Powell. “If it’s just one baby that’s saved from this sale, it’ll be worth it.”

Located next to the Louisiana Baptist Building in Alexandria, with an actual address at 1254 MacArthur Drive, the CPC also grew from a full-time director on December 4, 2017 to three other full-time employees, now: a coordinating customer advocate. , volunteer coordinator and manager / manager of the Avoyelles Pregnancy Center at 115 Ferdinand Street in Marksville. Additionally, the center has served over 500 women since serving its first client on that launch date.

In the future, the CENLA Pregnancy Center expects to receive a new ultrasound device soon, thanks to a donation from the Knights of Columbus. Additionally, Lemoine is excited about how God will continue to use CPC to touch many other lives.

“We have seen changed hearts and lives saved in this ministry,” said Lemoine. “Through the divine providence of God, we all intend to continue providing care and support to mothers in crisis of pregnancy.”
