SOMSD Parenting Center accepts donations for annual holiday toy drive

Of South Orange Maplewood School District Parenting Center:

When it comes to making life easier for our neighbors, especially at times like this, the South The Orange / Maplewood community is amazing. Now in its 23rd year, South Orange Maplewood School District Parenting Center Annual Holiday Toy Drive offers holiday gifts for the children of our school district-last year, our toy drive benefited over 500 children from 150 families in our two communities. And each year, we count on all of you to help us bring the holiday spirit to our entire community so that we can share the happy celebrations that mark this time of year.

With security measures continued due to COVID-19, it’s time to get creative and work to ensure our neighbors and their children continue to enjoy the holiday season this year. While in previous years we accepted gift giving, this year we will not be able to collect, package and distribute as we have done in the past, but we are still asking for your help.

The easiest and safest way to donate, instead of donating, is to donate in one of the following ways:

  • Make a tax-deductible contribution online at or search for SOMSD Annual Holiday Toy Drive on
  • Mail check payable to SOMSD Parenting Center at 525 Academy Street, Maplewood, NJ 07040
  • BODO (Buy One, Give One) at the following local stores: Sparkhouse, No. 165 and Words. When shopping at these stores, you can purchase a gift or gift card that the store will collect and give directly to one of the families in need.

We will use a good chunk of the collected money to buy from our local stores which could use our support now and as always 100% of the money donated will be used to purchase gifts.

Despite the hardships the coronavirus has caused, we can still continue to insure all of our SOMAs families feel the love of vacations – join us and donate ASAP! On behalf of South Orange Maplewood School District Parenting Center, we sincerely thank you for your generosity. As always, SOMA makes the best neighbors!

We hope this holiday season is the best and that you all stay safe.
