Press release: WECHU amends local instructions for recreation facilities

On September 27, 2021, the Windsor-Essex County Health Unit implemented a letter of instruction regarding proof of vaccination requirements at local sports and recreational facilities. This morning, WECHU posted an amended letter on its website that provides a 3 month grace period for those who are 12 years old during which they can receive two doses without running out of time due to a recent change in their eligibility.

Specifically, the following addition was made to the letter of instructions:

  • All individuals will be granted a 3 month (12 week) grace period from their 12th birthday during which they will be required to provide identification but will not be required to provide proof that they are fully immunized. against COVID-19. Once the person reaches 12 weeks after their birthday, they must provide proof of vaccination in accordance with this letter of instructions and any applicable legislation.
