Catawba Valley Medical Center (CVMC) in Hickory was recently named to Newsweek’s 2022 list of the nation’s top maternity care hospitals. The distinction recognizes facilities that have excelled in providing care to mothers, newborns and their families.
“Childbirth is one of life’s most important events,” said Jackie Miller, administrator of the CVMC Women & Children service line. “Our Birth Center staff and providers work together to provide the patient and family with the best possible experience. We are extremely proud to be recognized for the excellent care we provide to every person, every time.
The full list of recipients appears in the current edition of Newsweek. The assessment is based on three data sources: a national online survey in which hospital directors and maternity professionals (e.g. neonatal care providers and obstetricians/gynecologists) were asked to recommend leading maternities; data on key medical performance indicators relevant to maternity care (eg, a hospital’s cesarean delivery rate); and patient satisfaction data (for example, how patients rated a hospital’s medical staff for their responsiveness and communication).[Story and photo courtesy of Rick Gilbert, WACB]
