Job summary:
Meridian is looking for a highly motivated and organized Facilities Manager. Reporting to the Director, Facilities, this position provides a wide range of administrative functions, including record keeping, material and service ordering and invoice processing, employee scheduling and assignments, interdepartmental communications and interactions. with staff to ensure effective management of the department. The successful candidate must be resourceful, able to work independently and easily adapt to changing priorities. Strong written and oral communication skills, interpersonal skills in a diverse and inclusive environment, and time management skills required. The ability to define problems and look beyond the obvious to find effective solutions is expected. The work requires exquisite attention to detail and exceptional organizational skills.

This position is located in Washington DC on 3 contiguous acres with approximately 75,000 square feet of historic building space. Meridian requires MD, DC or VA residency for all employees. The position is expected to be onsite, with minor flexibility for offsite work. Effective January 4, 2022, all Meridian personnel will be required to be fully immunized against COVID-19 unless a reasonable medical or religious accommodation is approved. This position is considered essential and may be called upon to work during an emergency shutdown.

Terms:

Job Responsibilities:

  • Oversee and oversee day-to-day service work and event setups to ensure all tasks are performed correctly, efficiently and effectively

  • Managing master and weekly schedules for maintenance plans, staff schedules and holidays, and event support staffing
  • Willingness and ability to work a varied work schedule, helping the team organize events and/or weather events as needed to support Meridian’s schedule.
  • Day-to-day operation and maintenance program, including maintenance and management of the CMMS system, and primary communicator with stakeholders
  • Develop and implement systems to maintain equipment inventories, compliance activities, maintenance records, and budget documentation
  • Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to ensure safe and efficient operations and maintain compliance with all applicable regulations
  • Assist in the development, administration and monitoring of annual operating budgets for utilities, preventive maintenance, repairs, supplies and equipment procurement
  • Responsible for fulfilling all administrative responsibilities of the organization in a timely manner and meeting all administrative deadlines of the organization
  • Other assigned tasks and projects

Education experience:

  • Undergraduate degree in architecture, engineering or related field preferred.
  • 2-5 years of progressively responsible experience overseeing maintenance and operations.
  • Or any equivalent combination of training, education and experience that demonstrates the ability to perform the essential functions of the position.
  • Experience in historical environments an asset.
  • Conversation and/or fluency in Spanish an asset.

The technical requirements:
Proficiency in the following software is required for this position:

  • Microsoft Office including Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook, Teams
  • Adobe Acrobat Pro
  • CMMS software systems
  • Experience using Maximo or similar work control system.
  • Experience in project controls and contract administration.

Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:

  • Superior organizational and management skills with attention to detail and dedication to providing the best possible service; Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to coordinate the work of many skilled and unskilled trades and artisans simultaneously, while minimizing the impact on Meridian’s day-to-day operations.
  • Extensive experience, critical thinking and judgment to plan and achieve goals, as well as the ability to work independently and solve problems
  • Ability to manage and lead a team in a variety of maintenance and event related activities.
  • Strong intercultural communication skills; maturity, cultural sensitivity and tact suitable for working with people from all over the world.
  • Ability to lift and move up to 75 pounds of boxes and equipment for various event needs.
  • Ability to work in a 9am to 7pm window, with weekend support if needed
