TRUSSVILLE – Calvary Chapel Trussville recently hosted a 5k benefit for the Positive Choices Pregnancy Center in Cosby Lake Park.

Raising over $ 2,000 for the pregnancy center, 47 runners came to participate in a 5 km timed race on a wooded course and a fun run around the lake.

All funds raised were donated to Positive Choices, a local Trussville pro-life pregnancy center that helps families cope with unplanned pregnancies.

“We are here for many reasons,” Calvary Chapel pastor Tyler Warner said. “Obviously, we want to support and promote the pregnancy center. It’s also a great opportunity to do something fun for the community on a nice day. More than anything else, however, we want to let people know that God loves them and that He sent His Son Jesus to die on the cross for the forgiveness of their sins. This is why we are doing anything – we have good news and we want the whole world to know it!

Will Nesmith, on short-term leave after completing Air Force Basic Training and Special Forces Selection, took first place in the multi-minute 5k. Colt Warner, 4, sprinted with the rest of the 5k runners and was not fired at the start, finishing his 5k on the back of one of the other competitors.

Everyone had a great time in good weather, and the possibility of turning the event into an annual tradition is already under discussion, according to the church.

Calvary Chapel would like to thank everyone who came and ran for the moms, dads and babies whose lives are touched and even saved by the work of Positive Choices.
