Benefit breakfast at the parental center next Wednesday


STAMFORD — The 8th Annual St. Joseph Parenting Center Benefit Breakfast will be held from 7:30 am to 9:00 am on Wednesday, April 5 at the Stamford Italian Center, 1620 Newfield Ave, Stamford.

The keynote speaker for the event will be Dr. Lisa Miller, professor of psychology and education at Columbia University and author of The Spiritual Child; The New Science of Parenting for Lifelong Health and Development. ”Michael and AC O’Rourke, longtime residents of Stamford and co-founders of Malta House in Norwalk, will receive the Catherine A. Klie for community service.

The Annual Benefit Breakfast is a key fundraiser for the Saint Joseph Parenting Center, a Stamford-based 501 (c) (3) organization that strengthens families at risk of child abuse and neglect by providing education and free support for parents, including hot meals and case management. SJPC is Fairfield County’s only non-profit organization dedicated solely to parent education.

The center offers 28 courses covering topics such as anger management, nutrition, children’s mental health, time management and self-discipline. It helps low-income parents connect to other services to help them cope,
